We're reporting from the wild, wild West on how to live and work in the United States
Hello,
it's Mirjam and René, two Swiss natives who met in France, got married in Hawaii and are living in the City of Angels.
We share tips & tricks for visitors, offer a look behind the California lifestyle and tell the story of other Swiss who live in the United States.
René: I was born and raised in Switzerland, the land of milk, chocolate and cheese. In 2009, I moved to Los Angeles to marry the love of my life. I own a nutrition office in Hollywood and coach famous and not-so-famous clients from all over the world.
In my spare time, you will find me riding my road bike, surfing ridiculously small waves and walking our dogs Trouble and Spartacus.
Mirjam: I was born and raised in Switzerland but spent most of my adult life in Hawaii and California.
I'm a Swiss at heart who adapted well to the American way of life. I've been living in the City of Angels since 1999 and would consider myself a Cali girl with Swiss roots. When I'm in Switzerland I feel like I'm too americanized and when I'm hanging out with my American friends I feel like I'm too european... It's quite a dilemma but the good thing is that I don't have to put a label on myself :)
Even though my Swiss German is almost impeccable (my hubby would claim the opposite) I'm having a hard time writing in German, that's why all of my blog entries are in English. I don't have a fancy vocabulary so I'm sure you'll be able to follow me.
I'm a big animal lover, enjoy shooting with my fancy camera, love my trips to Switzerland and spending time with friends and family. I work with people from all over the world assisting them to get settled here in Los Angeles.
