Halloween - West Hollywood Style

Halloween - West Hollywood Style

Halloween here is always a fun time. On October 31st everybody is running around dressed up in costumes - even your banker might be wearing a superman, clown or pirate outfit, I think that's pretty funny.

Our neighborhood is completely decked out with spider webs, skeletons, skulls and Jack O'Lanterns (carved pumpkins). In the early evening, dressed-up children go from house to house trick-or treating. They usually return with bellies and buckets filled of candies and chocolate.

Most Halloween parties are being held the weekend before. Even though Halloween is a scary theme, a lot of women like to bring out their sexy side. They like to turn anything into a sexy version, such as nurse, police officer, school girl or even a nun. This year a lot of people picked a presidential candidate as a costume - and no, there was no sexy version of that.

If you should ever be in Los Angeles during this time, you need to check out the Halloween Carnaval in West Hollywood. It's a huge block party where over half a million visitors are expected every year. Get there early to find parking. There are several stages with different bands performing but the real highlight is people watching. Some of the costumes are outrageous, hilarious, scary or simply impressive. See for yourself, you might get inspired for your next Halloween or "Fastnacht" costume!

Hopefully you enjoyed this little overview of a crazy night in West Hollywood. Maybe you'll join us next time.

See you on the flip side,
